Creating a refugee for wildlife
An animal parade at Wakoola!!! Most people would agree that having a pond provides a soothing retreat at the end of a busy day. The sight and sound of water helps to relax the mind and refresh the spirit. A beautiful backyard oasis also creates a sustainable habitat for a variety of wildlife. In a time where large areas of forest are being cleared for large development, the need for wildlife habitats is on the increase.
Including a pond in your landscape can add wonderful diversity to your yard, while providing an endless educational experience for you and your family. Frogs and toads may greet you with singing in the spring. Salamanders and turtles may also take up residence.
We were very excited here at wakoola to see our mother Wood duck return for her third season to nest. She chose a secluded spot under a needle palm, and we watched eagerly in anticipation of seeing her babies make thier debut. Earlier this week, we saw her taking her 12 new hatchlings out for their first swimming lesson. As you can see, a school of goldfish decided to tag along.
A pond can be a wonderful addition to your landscape and a welcome necessity to the wildlife community. Let us help you create a beautiful environment that will preserve our wildlife here in Georgia.
